Mel Cotton’s Sporting Goods roots began in Santa Clara County, long before the area became synonymous with Silicon Valley, at a time when the majority of real estate housed orchards not corporations. Perceiving the rapidly growing market of outdoor recreational enthusiasts, Mel Cotton established his business in 1946.
